Orkol Studio is a family-run ceramic workshop with a legacy spanning 35 years. Its roots trace back to the artist-ceramicist Robert Absandze's original workshop. In 2019, the workshop underwent modernization and reemerged in the market as Orkol Studio.g
"Orkol," a Megrelian word meaning 'pitcher,' embodies the essence of this venture. With passion, every member of the Absandze family contributes to crafting environmentally friendly tableware and decorative artistic pieces from Kolkhi clay.
Orkol Studio's uniqueness lies in its production of one-of-a-kind ceramics, unmatched elsewhere in Georgia, through the traditional black sparkling clay producing technique. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted, shaped carefully and adorned with a variety of Georgian ornaments.
Visitors to Orkol Studio are afforded the opportunity to witness the continuous ceramic production process. They can engage in clay processing, painting, and even personal creation. This experience fosters a deeper connection to Georgian culture and provides a space to unwind while participating in masterclasses led by a ceramicist with 35 years of expertise.
Orkol Studio encompasses three distinct spaces: a factory, a store, and a permanent gallery showcasing the works of Robert Absandze.
